Poet, George Washington Johnson, was born August 19, 1839, in Binbrook, Ontario. He died January 2, 1917, in Pasadena, California, and is buried in Hamilton Cemetery next to his third wife, not his second, who is buried in a different section of the same cemetery. George Washington Johnson is best remembered for his poem “When you and I were young, Maggie.”
