Located at 114 Bridge Street West in Belleville, Ontario, Susanna Moodie & her husband, John, moved here from the shores of Rice Lake in 1840. Living here was not without its hardships and heartbreak: their son, John Strickland, drowned in the bay of Quinte in 1844 and their son, George Arthur, lived for only a month and passed away in August 1840.
