Poet, James MacRae (aka John J. MacDonald) was born in Alexandria, Ontario (or St. Mary’s) in 1849. Considered by many to be the best of the “Four Worst Poets in Canada” James MacRae died June 23, 1937, age 87, in St. Mary’s, Ontario, and is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
