Birthplace (maybe) of American poet, Lucille Clifton. Born June 27, 1936, in Depew, New York, the 1940 census indicates Lucille was living here, at 33 Muskingum Street, with her parents and a younger brother.
In 1930, her mother, Thelma Moore Sayles, lived less than a kilometre away at 28 Laverack Avenue. Lucille's aunt, Ovilla Moore, lies in Lancaster Rural Cemetery, not far from this neighbourhood. She died, age 19, four years before Lucille was born.
Her grave is unmarked…so too are the three plots to her left and one to her right. Ms Clifton wrote often about her parents and their passing and I wonder if they are somewhere nearby.
